Todd Akers, a former baseball coach at Tuloso-Midway, died on Tuesday morning following a two-year battle with prostate cancer.

A testament of his Warriors attitude, Akers battled his stage four metastatic cancer for two years after receiving his initial diagnosis at age 56 in the summer of 2021.

Akers contributed to the best baseball run in T-M history by helping the Warriors advance to consecutive appearances in the regional playoffs. After Akers had to step out during the season to concentrate on his struggle with cancer, the second was led interim by his older son TJ.

Carroll graduate Akers also played for the Tigers in the 1990s.
